A free English-to-Kolokwa translator. It is written for everyday use: type English, read Kolokwa.

Kolokwa — spoken by roughly 5 million people in Liberia and across the diaspora — is Phase 1. It is a language of its own, not English spelled differently, and AI systems do not understand it today: voice assistants, transcription tools, and translation services all fail when Liberians speak naturally. This project exists to build the record those systems are missing.

The roadmap continues to all 16 of Liberia's indigenous languages — Kpelle, Bassa, Grebo, Lorma, Vai and others — through paid community participation in the Liberian hinterland.

Words the orthography has already settled are shown plainly. When a word is not in the tables yet, the app spells it out from the orthography's own rules and shows it with a dotted underline. That is a best guess. The orthography on this word has not been finalized. Version 1.0 is only partly frozen — some questions in the orthography are still open — so treat a dotted word as a suggestion and tell us when one reads wrong.

There is no account and no sign-in. The app never asks for your name, your email address, your phone number, or your contacts, and it does not have a way to store them.

Translation runs on your phone, so the app works without an internet connection — on a plane, in a village, anywhere.
